Student Challenge on reforming the tax system

Esharelife Think Tank in collaboration with the San Marino Consulate in London is pleased to launch a new student challenge on reforming the tax system.

Humankind must be in harmony with nature to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations. In its recent report, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has concluded that the range of published evidence indicates the net damage costs of climate change are likely to be significant and increase over time.

While the global community is actively searching for new ways to achieve sustainable development, resolved to perform an economic system reset, and determined to a green recovery, why don’t we try to reform the tax system?

The new thinking that we are promoting is instead of taxing the companies for what they produce and sell, why we don’t tax them based on their CO2 emissions? In doing so, we should tally the amount of CO2 a company emits while making the goods and recycling them.

Are you worried about climate change? Are you a student aspiring to do your part and fight against it? Do you believe in the potential of reforming the tax system in achieving sustainable development?

Then, this challenge is right for you.

We invite all the students who are passionate about performing research on issues related to climate change with a focus on reforming the carbon tax as a way to achieve sustainable development and green economic recovery.

As part of the challenge, students are invited to register on the Researchgate portal and join the project “Sustainable development and the need to reform the carbon tax”

Submission of the research papers will be on a rolling basis and added to the Project after an initial evaluation. At the end of the year, a special commission will select the winner.

The winner will be awarded a cash prize of £1000 and three nights paid trip to San Marino to pitch his/her revolutionary idea before the San Marino officials, who will consider applying it to the San Marino fiscal system.
